Morning Routine: Habits That Will Help You Start Your Day Right!

Many of us have a little morning routine, but it doesn't always look like the one we'd like!

If you too are the type to press the “snooze” button on your cell phone several times, skip breakfast, grab the first clothes that come to hand and burn yourself by wanting to drink your coffee too quickly, we have thought of some tips to help you establish a morning routine worthy of the name!

The “Miracle Morning”

The idea of a morning routine has become increasingly popular in recent years thanks to Hal Helrod and his “Miracle Morning.”

What we often hear about this book is that you should get up at 5 a.m. to have a fulfilling and successful life. However, the author mainly provides keys to start the day off on the right foot while improving your well-being day after day.

There are 6 of these keys, called “ SAVERS : Silence , Affirmation , Visualization , Exercise , Reading , Writing and do not take more than 5 to 10 minutes each.

We suggest you review these steps with some tips to easily implement them tomorrow morning!

1 - Wake up gently

The first step in the morning routine presented by the “Miracle Morning” is silence. This allows you to wake up gently through a calm step such as meditation .

There are now apps that allow you to get started with meditation and easily start this new habit. The Rose Buddha and Petit Bambou apps are both in French and offer a free version of some meditations, perfect for getting started!

2 - Speak to yourself kindly

A fulfilling morning routine then involves learning to speak kindly to yourself. This is done through affirmations .

Affirmations are positive statements you repeat to yourself (ideally out loud) about the person you want to become. These might sound like, “I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to” or “I find myself beautiful and accept myself as I am.”

We've written an article that explains in more detail how to implement affirmations, with a downloadable document of 50 positive affirmations !

3 - Imagine the best

Another habit to incorporate into your routine: visualization ! This technique, used by many athletes, consists of imagining yourself achieving your goals while trying as much as possible to feel the emotions as if everything were real.

For example, if you have an interview for a new job, imagine going to that interview, everything going well, you being convincing, and then they call you back to tell you that you've been accepted. Imagine the joy, the pride, the sense of accomplishment,...

By practicing this exercise daily, your mind will be conditioned for success!

4 - Wake up your body

The 4th step of a “Miracle Morning” morning routine is exercise!

It might be as simple as going for a 30-minute run or heading to your local gym for a morning class... but a few exercises at home are all you need!

If you're still struggling to get out of bed at this point in your morning routine, we've got the perfect solution: an ab workout you can do entirely in bed ! Find the instructions for each exercise right here .

If you've managed to get out of bed and have less than 10 minutes to spare for your workout, no problem! There's the app " Seven - 7 Minute Quick Home Workouts " that will help you wake up and get your day off to a great start.

You can also opt for a mini yoga session , with this 10-minute morning yoga video , or this one , which is done in bed!

5 - Learn new things

It can be difficult to find time to read, especially when you're so absorbed in your cell phone and apps like Instagram.

By incorporating a few pages of reading into your morning routine, you'll be able to finish that novel you never finished or learn new things from a self-help book.

If you're looking for some personal growth reading ideas , you can find some inspiration right HERE .

6 - Set goals for the day

Getting your thoughts straight first thing in the morning helps you organize your day better and free yourself from the little things that bother you.

Choose a nice journal to write down your goals, thoughts, or things you are grateful for every morning!
