Iced tea is THE summer drink, but it's not prepared quite like hot tea.
So here are our 2 methods to prepare it so that it is well concentrated and tasty!
( SERVINGS: 4)
Ingredients
- 6 cups (1.5 L) of cold water
- 5 tbsp (75 ml) of Me First tea or herbal tea , your choice
- Ice for serving
Cold infusion
Cold infusion is recommended when using tea as iced tea. Although it takes longer than hot infusion, this type of infusion maximizes flavors, reduces bitterness, and as a bonus, the already cold tea won't be diluted by adding several ice cubes.
In a large container, pour the water and the tea or herbal tea . Stir a few times, using a wooden spoon, and refrigerate for a minimum of 6 hours or overnight.
To serve, strain the tea, sweeten if desired and pour into a glass with a few ice cubes.
Tea prepared using the cold brew method will keep for several days, so don't be afraid to make a big pitcher!
Hot infusion
This version is perfect when you want to make an express iced tea or if you want to make a smaller recipe.
Boil the water.
In a large heat-resistant container, pour boiling water, tea or herbal tea and stir a few times with a wooden spoon.
Let it steep for 5 to 7 minutes, then strain the tea.
Sweeten if desired and pour into a glass filled with ice.
Iced tea concentrate
Some cocktail recipes may call for iced tea concentrate. This is an even more concentrated version that's useful when combining tea with other ingredients.
To make iced tea concentrate, use 4 tsp (20 ml) of loose leaf tea or herbal tea to one cup of water and steep for 5 to 7 minutes in boiling water.
This concentrate will allow you to make 2 to 4 cocktails depending on the recipes!
