
BLUEBERRY AND MAPLE FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE
(SERVING: 6)
Ingredients
- 6 slices of bread of your choice
- 1 cup (250 ml) blueberries, fresh or frozen
- 1 cup (250 ml) of milk of your choice
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup (85 ml) oatmeal
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) whole wheat flour
- 2 tbsp (60 ml) butter, softened
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) lavender maple syrup and chai tea - PURE
Preparation
Butter a 9"X9" baking pan or cast iron skillet.
Cut the bread slices into 6 pieces and place them in the pan with the blueberries. Make sure the blueberries are evenly distributed in the pan. Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine milk, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
Pour the liquid mixture over the bread slices and blueberries. Let stand for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350°F.
In a bowl, mix the oats, whole wheat flour, brown sugar, and butter until you get a sandy texture.
Pour the mixture over the French toast mixture and bake for about 45 minutes.
When removed from the oven, pour in the lavender maple syrup and chai tea .
* The casserole can be served hot, straight from the oven, or cold.
