With the arrival of warm weather, I like to swap my traditional latte for a good iced coffee ! However, there's no question of spending my time at the local Starbucks or Tim Horton's when there are tons of recipes for making your own iced drink at home. ( find our delicious iced cappuccino recipe here)
It's not only healthier, but it tastes even better! Here are three ways to make your own iced coffee. Choose the one that best suits your lifestyle!
OPTION #1: THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A CLASSIC / COLD COFFEE WITH ICE
OPTION #1: THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A CLASSIC / COLD COFFEE WITH ICE

How to do it?
1. Brew the coffee as usual, but be sure to add a slightly larger quantity of beans; you want a strong coffee!
2. Let the coffee cool and add ice, milk or plant-based beverage, and maple syrup to taste.
This is the simplest and quickest recipe, but definitely not my favorite. You really have to wait for the coffee to cool down, otherwise, you end up with a drink that's really too diluted. My alternative: replace the ice cubes with maple water cubes (one of the products in our April box ! ).
OPTION #2: LIKE A SCOUT, ALWAYS READY / ICED COFFEE CUBES
OPTION #2: LIKE A SCOUT, ALWAYS READY / ICED COFFEE CUBES

How to do it?
1. Brew the coffee as usual, but be sure to add a slightly larger quantity of beans; you want a strong coffee!
2. Let the coffee cool and pour it into an ice cube tray. Freeze overnight.
3. Place the ice cubes in a glass and add milk or plant-based beverage and maple syrup to taste. Let melt slightly while stirring.
This is THE perfect version for anyone who loves meal prep. The cubes are also perfect for adding to smoothies or making a frappuccino!
Just add milk or plant-based drink, vanilla and a sweetener (maple syrup, dates, banana, etc.), then blend everything.
OPTION #3: PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE / COLD BREW COFFEE
OPTION #3: PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE / COLD BREW COFFEE

How to do it?
1. Place 1 cup of freshly ground coffee (medium to coarse grind) in the bottom of a container. Add 4 cups of cold, filtered water, then wait a few minutes for the grounds to rise to the surface.
2. Stir with a wooden spoon to combine. Cover and let steep for 12 to 24 hours (the longer you steep, the more pronounced the flavor will be!).
3. Strain the mixture through a coffee filter. Add ice cubes and milk or plant-based beverage. The cold brew concentrate will keep for 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
This method takes a little longer, but it's my favorite! When cold brewed, the coffee loses its bitterness, leaving us with a drink that's well-caffeinated, but sweet enough that we don't need to add a single touch of sugar!
Another great and faster alternative is cold brew coffee bags. Simply place the bags in cold water and let the magic happen.
